Social Media in My Life

Social Media and the topic of how detrimental it can be to mental health has been discussed frequently throughout my life. As a kid, I was not allowed to get most forms of social media until seventh grade or later, and at the time I remember being frustrated with my mom for not allowing me to use it, but now I am glad I did not have social media from a young age. It is hard not to have a complex relationship with social media. In one way I love social media, and being able to connect with friends, especially those I don’t see as often anymore, but in the other way, I hate social media. I hate how it has allowed societal standards and comparisons of others to take over everyday life. I love being able to post a picture I like of something fun I did, but I hate worrying that someone might think it is stupid or embarrassing for me. Man's Best Friend

  Norbert Zeus Feinen. The first and only pet that is “mine”. We got Norbert in the fall of 2015, completely by chance. My mom was at work and someone brought in this tiny puppy who barely weighed 5 pounds with the most piercing bright blue eyes and fluffiest face. She instantly fell in love and so we got him. Though we were already on a waiting list to get our other dog Bellatrix. Having two kids and two dogs it naturally happened that Norbert became mine and Bella became my sister’s. I would walk, play, and sleep with Norbert in my room while my sister did the same with Bellatrix.  Both of our dogs were named after Harry Potter characters, one of the only things me and my sister both had liked at the time. When choosing Norbert’s name we were stuck between two options: Norbert and Dobby.
